Ceremonial Staircase
The Ceremonial Staircase leads out from the Vestibule, faced with Pudost limestone, into the state rooms and up to the second floor of the Central building. At Nicolas I’s suggestion during the mid-19th century restoration supervised by Roman Kuzmin, the walls of the upper landing were hung with canvases showing views of Gatchina and Pavlovsk by Shchedrin and his pupil Martynov.
