The Eagle Column Restoration Launched

Restoration work began in the Gatchina park to conserve the Eagle Column, the oldest structure in the park that appeared during the time of Count Orlov, who was the first to own Gatchina.

Restored in the post-war period, the Column was vandalized in the 1980s and both the column and the statue of eagle were damaged by stones. Now the restored eagle is in the Gatchina palace and its replica will be installed on the column upon completion of the restoration project.
