The Oval Boudoir
The room has retained some of the original décor by Antonio Rinaldi. The door panels of artificial marble with a vase in relief atop them and floral garlands flowing down, splendid pattern of the inlaid floor with plant ornaments reflecting the ceiling pattern are all distinctive features of Rinaldi’s interiors. In the late 1850s the walls of the room were hung with olive green silk. In 1923 beneath the material a well-preserved wall painting was discovered, which was made available for viewing. Like the other rooms in the palace, the Boudoir suffered badly in World War II. Restoration work on the room was completed in 2007.
