Grand Greenhouses

During the time of Count Orlov, an extensive complex of structures in the Palace Park was built. The greenhouses expanded gradually, and eventually covered an area of 9.8 hectares towards the end of the 19th century. There were three greenhouses in the parks that grew grapes, four grew peaches, three grew apricots, two grew plums, and another five grew various fruits. The greenhouses supplied a variety of vegetables, exotic fruit, and greenery for the royal court.

Today, the greenhouse complex is no longer a feature of the Palace Park, although various plants and seedlings have begun to grow there once more.
