Lime Tree Garden

Gatchina park The formal Lime Tree Garden stretches along the Krasnoarmeysky prospect. It was planted at the same time as the Dutch Gardens and divided off from them by a ditch. In 1798 only lime trees were planted here, hence the name of the garden. Later, in the end of the 19th century, all the three gardens – Lower and Upper Dutch Gardens and the Lime tree garden – were heavily overgrown with lilac bushes and vegetation.
